Can you handle the heat? Step foot into the kitchen to find out in one of Ignition Australia’s newest pokies, Hot Hot Shawarma.
In it, you’ll be heading behind the counter and taking your taste buds on a journey through the Middle East. More importantly, you could also be taking your bank balance to new heights. Across these sizzling reels, there’s nothing hotter or more profitable than the game’s features and jackpots.
This game review explores all of them. Read on to learn the ins and outs of Hot Hot Shawarma, including how to play, its key features, and why it could be your new favourite.
Quick Review
In this pokie, you’ll be in the heart of a kebab shop. So, the symbols on your screen should come as no surprise: gyro skewers on each side of the grid, along with hot drinks, chicken legs, and the titular shawarma wraps on the reels.
But these dishes aren’t the most delectable part of this pokie; its features are the standout. Think everything from expanding wilds to scatter symbols to free spins. Plus, if there’s one thing more mouth-watering than the food, it’s the maximum payout of 10,000x your original bet.
Play Hot Hot Shawarma
Although Hot Hot Shawarma boasts a simple 5×3 layout, it’s anything but basic.
As you play, you may encounter a variety of premium features, including not one but two bonus rounds. The first is a free spins bonus round, during which expanding wilds could cover your whole reel and spoil you with riches. There’s also the Hold & Win bonus round; this will be outlined in more detail later.
How to Play
When you’re ready to jump into the action, the first step is placing your bet. Here, you can place a wager as low as $0.10, making it easy to experience the thrills without risking your whole bankroll.
Once you’ve placed your bet, you can get to the fun part: spinning the reels. With each spin, you’ll get closer to scoring major wins, especially with the help of features like free spins, expanding wilds, and the signature Hold & Win round.
Key Feature
While there’s a lot to love about this game, one feature stands head and shoulders above the rest: the Hold & Win function.
When you land a certain number of special symbols, you’ll trigger the Hold & Win round, which locks those icons into place. Then, you get a set number of respins to hopefully land a few more of these symbols. Every time a new one appears on the reels, it also locks into place.
The logic here is simple: the more bonus symbols you score, the greater your winnings. If you manage to fill your entire grid with them, you’ll win the pokie’s biggest jackpot of 10,000x your original stake.
Other Features
One guarantee about Hot Hot Shawarma? It’s brimming with three things: fun, flavour, and features. In addition to the Hold & Win round, some of the game’s other features include:
- Autoplay
- Expanding wilds
- Free spins
- Multipliers (max payout of 10,000x)
- Scatter symbols
- Wild symbols

- 3 Coins Egypt: In addition to the Middle Eastern theme, this pokie has another feature in common with Hot Hot Shawarma: the Hold & Win function.
